About Us
kimonocafe is a Japanese lifestyle goods brand operated by Ando Co., Ltd., based in Kyoto, Japan. We offer shibori shawls, bags, noren curtains, folding fans, and selected Japanese textile goods.
Since its founding in 1923, Ando Co., Ltd. has continued to create products that reflect the spirit of the times, while cherishing traditional Japanese dyeing and shibori techniques.
Our guiding idea is simple: to connect people through the beauty of Japanese tradition.
We value not only preserving traditional techniques, but also presenting them in a way that feels natural, useful, and beautiful for customers today.

Japanese Craftsmanship from Kyoto
At ANDO, we create products using traditional Japanese techniques, including shibori dyeing.
Shibori is a dyeing method in which parts of the fabric are tied, folded, stitched, or pressed to prevent dye from reaching certain areas. This process creates unique patterns and textures that cannot be fully reproduced by machines.
Because many steps are done by hand, each piece has its own character. Slight differences in color, pattern, and finish are part of the beauty of handmade craftsmanship.
Rather than keeping tradition only as something special or formal, we aim to make it part of everyday life.
From Kyoto, we share Japanese handwork with customers around the world.

Shibori Concept Shop ANDO KYOTO
Our Kyoto flagship location includes ANDO KYOTO, a concept shop where visitors can experience the beauty of shibori more closely.
The shop offers shibori bags, stoles, and Japanese lifestyle items made with traditional techniques. Each item is designed to be both beautiful and easy to use in modern daily life.
Whether as a memory of Kyoto or as a gift for someone special, our shop introduces the charm of Japanese craftsmanship through products that can be touched, used, and enjoyed.

Hands-On Japanese Craft Workshops
At ANDO KYOTO, we also offer workshops where visitors can experience traditional Japanese handcrafts.
Using shibori dyeing techniques, participants can create original items such as haori coats, T-shirts, tote bags, shoulder bags, furoshiki wrapping cloths, stoles, and more. With a wide selection of colors, each participant can make a one-of-a-kind piece.
Our staff carefully guides each step, so even first-time visitors can enjoy the experience.
Through hands-on making, guests can learn about Japanese tradition and take home a piece they created themselves.

Shibori Workshops Around the World
ANDO also holds shibori dyeing workshops outside Japan, including past events in San Francisco and other cities. We will continue bringing this hands-on Japanese craft experience to new places around the world.

Our Commitment to Quality
We are committed to delivering products that customers can use with confidence.
For dyed and textile products, we conduct quality checks related to colorfastness, washing, dimensional change, friction, light exposure, and water resistance. These tests help us maintain stable quality and ensure that our products are suitable for everyday use.
For us, true quality means more than beauty.
It also means comfort, reliability, and trust.

OEM and Original Product Development
ANDO also supports OEM and original product development using our experience in dyeing, textile processing, and Japanese accessory manufacturing.
From fabric to finished products, we can support a wide range of production needs through our domestic and overseas supply chains. We work with items such as yukata, drawstring bags, geta sandals, bags, and accessories.
We can assist with product planning, design, specifications, sample production, mass production, inspection, and shipping. Small-lot consultations are also welcome.
If you have an idea for an original Japanese-style product, ANDO can help bring it to life.
